Our Smoky Mountain Treehouse Resort Story
We started Sanctuary Treehouse Resort after building a treehouse for our four children on our property. Once the 40 acres of land across from our home became available, we knew what we had to do next…build a Smoky Mountain Treehouse Resort.
What started as a plan to build a few treehouses to rent near our own property turned into a mission to build the
world’s largest treehouse resort in the Smoky Mountains. We’ve created rentals that are great for both family vacations and romantic getaways. Our goal is for Sanctuary Treehouse Resort to be a place where adults are taken back to their childhood treehouse days and where families can play and stay together while still respecting the beauty of the area.
Why Treehouses?
Whether you are climbing up a ladder or a set of stairs, the anticipation of what lies ahead can be thrilling. Once you reach the top, the feeling of being up in the trees, surrounded by nature, can be truly special. Treehouses can also stir up feelings of nostalgia, reminding us of our own childhoods and the joy of playing and exploring. Overall, treehouses can be a great way to tap into our sense of wonder and imagination, and to reconnect with the natural world.
Interactive Amenities
There is something magical about treehouses that can spark a sense of childlike wonder in people of all ages. Located in the heart of the Great Smoky Mountains, our unique treehouse design with a ton of interactive amenities and incredible features transports you back to your childhood.
Some of our interactive features include:
- A secret Queen bed hidden beneath the king bed. Upon the simple crank of a wheel, an extra bed is revealed! The King bed has rope supports and a crank system to roll out the Queen trundle bed from underneath.
- Hidden dining table. It may appear to be a bunk bed, but at Sanctuary Treehouse Resort nothing is as it seems! A crank system transforms it into a bottom bunk, a couch, or a 2-person dining table.
- Escape hatch. Find yourself in need of a quick retreat? We’ve got you covered. Our escape hatch with a ladder can provide you with ultimate stealth in your next game of hide and seek.
- Drink chute. All that exploring can leave you parched! Good thing there is a drink chute from the kitchen to the lower porch.
- Slide. Who said slides were just for kids? We are proud to offer a 20 foot outdoor fun slide for adults and kids!
In addition, you will find pulley and lever systems throughout the resort, reminding you of your childhood wonder and imagination.
Comfort and Luxury
Staying in a treehouse does not mean you have to compromise on comfort. At Sanctuary Treehouse Resort, we make sure you experience nature and luxury.
Our amenities are sure to give you comfort and ease in the Smoky Mountains. They include:
- All stone, wood burning fireplace/ LED fireplace inside. You read that right, we have a fireplace inside our treehouse.
- Spacious outdoor decks. Treehouses are a great way to reconnect with the natural world. Embrace the scenery with our spacious 200 square foot back & 320 square foot lower outdoor decks.
- Adventurous seating. We have a seat for everyone at our resort. You’ll be happy to find a two person bench swing, two Adirondack chairs by the fireplace, and a large net swing for adults and kids
- Walk in shower. Enjoy a walk-in shower with a privacy curtain for the bathroom area.
- Kitchenette. Hungry? Our treehouses have a kitchenette with Keurig coffee bar, retro appliances, and a small stock of kitchen items. We also have a stocked, small refrigerator with beverages and a snack bar for purchase.
- Internet. Don’t worry, you won’t be “roughing it” at our treehouse resort. We offer 50″ televisions on top and lower levels, and high speed internet.
